From the Regulators

The International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation has appointed Robert Glauber, Pedro Malan, and Luigi Spaventa as trustees. Glauber is retired chairman and CEO of the National Association of Securities Dealers. Malan is a former president of the Central Bank of Brazil. Spaventa is a former budget minister for Italy. The appointments fill vacancies created by the retirement of William McDonough of the United States, Roberto Teixeira da Costa of Brazil, and Kees Storm of the Netherlands, respectively. IASC is the body that oversees the International Accounting Standards Board.

Accounting Officers, Controllers

Ameen

Jamie Miller has resigned as chief accounting officer of health insurer WellPoint to take over as top accounting executive at General Electric. WellPoint CFO Wayne Deveydt will assume Miller’s duties until a successor is found. At GE, Miller replaces Philip Ameen, who is retiring. Ameen’s departure comes as GE is trying to settle a regulatory probe into its accounting practices, although the company denies that his exit is related to that.

Michael Hughey is retiring as controller and chief accounting officer from the Bank of New York Mellon Corp. John Park has been tapped to replace him. Park has been the managing director of global markets and treasury for the $9 billion company since the merger of The Bank of New York Company and Mellon Financial Corp. in July 2007.

Rice

$980 million iStar Financial has announced that Nicholas Radesca has resigned as chief accounting officer to accept a position as chief financial officer at another company. The New York-based finance company that focuses on the commercial real estate industry says Chief Financial Officer Catherine Rice will assume Radesca’s role.

PetroQuest Energy has promoted Bond Clement to chief accounting officer. Clement, who joined the company in October 2004, most recently served as vice president of finance and controller.

$1.4 billion Teradyne has announced that Daniel Tempesta has resigned as corporate controller and chief accounting officer to pursue other opportunities. His duties will be assumed by Gregory Beecher, who will continue to serve as Teradyne’s CFO and treasurer.

General Counsels, Corporate Secretaries

JCPenney has hired Joanne Bober as general counsel and corporate secretary. She succeeds Charlie Lotter, who has retired after 33 years of service. Bober joins JCPenney from Chubb Corp., where she served as general counsel.

$1.6 billion Metavante Technologies has named Donald Layden as general counsel and corporate secretary, in addition to his current role as senior executive vice president. Layden, who joined Metavante in 2002, also serves as president of the Metavante Corp. International Group.

Waxman

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has announced the resignation of General Counsel Allen Waxman. David Reid, senior vice president and managing director, will assume Waxman’s roles on an interim basis while the company searches for a permanent successor.

$1 billion Eddie Bauer Holdings has hired Karen Novotny as associate general counsel and divisional vice president. Novotny has served as vice president and associate general counsel of Wild Oats Markets since 1999.

On the Board

E-Trade Financial Corp., based in New York, has named Robert Druskin to its board of directors. He will chair its newly created finance and risk oversight committee. Druskin is former chief operating officer for Citigroup.

The Cheesecake Factory has elected Allen Bernstein and Alexander Cappello to its board of directors. Bernstein will serve on the compensation committee, Cappello on the audit committee. Bernstein is president of Endeavor Restaurant Group. Cappello is chairman and CEO of Cappello Capital Corp., a global merchant-banking firm.

Nasdaq has announced the launch of Nasdaq Market Replay, a data tool that provides a Nasdaq-validated replay and analysis of the market. Following the completion of a trade, Market Replay also allows compliance officers to confirm if a trade met compliance standards.

Daniel Perkins and Dale Sorenson have joined Crowe Chizek & Co. as executives in the Risk Consulting business unit in the firm’s Oak Brook, Ill., office. Perkins and Sorenson both have more than 25 years of experience in treasury management. Perkins most recently served as a lead director at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sorenson is a member of the Association of Financial Professionals.
