The Securities and Exchange Commission has sworn in Luis Aguilar as a commissioner. Prior to his appointment, Aguilar worked as a partner in the Atlanta office of international law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge. He also served as a staff attorney at the SEC from 1979 to 1982.

General Counsels, Corporate Secretaries

Aufhauser

$31 billion UBS AG, based in Zurich, Switzerland, has announced the resignation of David Aufhauser as its North American general counsel. Aufhauser’s departure comes amid a federal investigation and a lawsuit filed by New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo against Aufhauser and six other executives for the Swiss bank’s role in the collapse of the auction rate securities market. Aufhauser will remain an adviser to the company until Sept. 30.

$49 billion Chrysler Corp. has named Holly Leese vice president, general counsel, and secretary. Leese, who has been with the company since 1980, most recently served as assistant general counsel for corporate affairs. She replaces Richard Houtman, who has retired.

Arch Coal has promoted Robert Jones to senior vice president for law, general counsel and secretary. In this expanded capacity, Jones also acts as the corporation’s chief compliance officer. Jones joined Arch Coal in 1991 and was named head of the legal function in 2000.

Tidewater has promoted Bruce Lundstrom to executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. Lundstrom joined the marine transportation company in September 2007 as senior vice president.

Armstrong World Industries, a flooring, cabinetry and building supplies maker, has promoted Jeffrey Nickel to general counsel and corporate secretary. Nickel, who joined Armstrong in 2001, previously was the company’s deputy general counsel for business and commercial law. He replaces John Rigas, who has retired.

Accounting Officers, Controllers

$27.6 billion Aetna has appointed Rajan Parmeswar controller and chief accounting officer, effective Aug. 18. He will succeed Ronald Olejniczak, who has retired. Parmeswar joins Aetna from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he has been a partner.

Vines

Dallas-based Texas Industries, a building materials supplier, has named Les Vines controller and chief accounting officer. Vines joined TXI in 1995 as the corporate tax manager.

FMC Technologies has named Jay Nutt controller. Nutt, who joined the company in 1987, most recently served as assistant corporate controller.

Chief Risk, Compliance Officers

Truslow

Donald Truslow, who has been chief risk officer of $56.6 billion Wachovia Corp. since 2000, has announced plans to retire once a successor has been named. The bank plans to begin an immediate search for a replacement. Other positions Truslow has served in since joining the bank in 1980 are treasurer and comptroller.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber has named Richard Pegher vice president of internal audit. Before joining the Akron, Ohio-based company, Pegher served as vice president of internal audit at XM Satellite Radio. He replaces Warren Johnston, who took over Goodyear’s internal auditing responsibilities on an interim basis in 2006.

First Financial Bancorp has promoted John Sabath to senior vice president and chief risk officer. Sabath joined First Financial in 2005 as regulatory risk manager. He assumes the role from Greg Gehlmann, general counsel and corporate secretary, who has held the chief risk officer position for the last two years.

On the Board

Pacific Capital Bancorp has elected John Olds to its board of directors. Olds, a retired financial services professional with more than 40 years of experience, most recently served as vice chairman and CEO of the Development Bank of Singapore from 1998 to 2001. He has not yet been assigned to any committee.

Jack in the Box has elected Wendy Markus Webb to its board of directors. She was also elected to the nominating and governance and finance committees. Webb is senior vice president of strategic communications and investor relations for Ticketmaster, a subsidiary of $6.2 billion Interactive Corp. Webb joined Ticketmaster in June 2008 after a 20-year career with Disney, where she was most recently executive director of the Disney Foundation.

Consulting firm Jefferson Wells has hired Gary Sturisky as global practice leader of internal audit and controls. Sturisky, who brings more than 13 years of experience, most recently served as a director in the global advisory practice at KPMG based in Atlanta.

Axentis and the tax and accounting business of Thomson Reuters have launched a joint pilot program integrating Axentis Enterprise with Checkpoint tax and accounting’s online productivity and workflow software.
