Linsmeier

Thomas Linsmeier has been appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Linsmeier is chairman of the accounting and information systems department at Michigan State University.

At the Securities and Exchange Commission, Associate Director of Enforcement Paul Berger will depart to take a job with the Debevoise & Plimpton law firm in Washington, D.C. Berger joined the SEC’s Enforcement Divison in 1992, and became associate director in 2000.

Executive Moves

Schmidt

General Motors has announced plans to restructure its accounting function, including the departure of two key employees. Paul Schmidt, GM’s current controller, will retire from the auto-maker later this year after 37 years at GM. Also, Chief Accounting Officer Peter Bible will leave the company at the end of May to pursue other career options. GM has also hired a financial advisory firm, Alix Partners, to help solve ongoing accounting headaches at the company while it searches for new accounting executives.

San Diego-based Miracor Diagnostics has named Ann Wadsworth chief accounting officer. The company also recently promoted Chief Financial Officer Ross Seibert to chief executive, replacing Lee Hulsebus, who retired.

Citadel Broadcasting Corp. , based in Las Vegas, has hired Jacquelyn Orr as general counsel and vice president. Orr previously worked at Entercom Communications as associate general counsel.

McGillicuddy

Speed Network has named Francois McGillicuddy vice president of finance for the Charlotte, N.C.,-based motor sports and automotive lifestyle network. McGillicuddy comes to Speed from Cablevision, where he served most recently as vice president of planning and administration for Rainbow Sports Networks. He replaces Kevin Annison, who now serves as head of business development and new media for Speed.

Pipe manufacturer Dresser has named Linda Rutherford senior vice president and general counsel. Rutherford comes to the Dallas-based company from Raytheon Corp. , where she was general counsel of one of its operating units.

SK Foods, a tomato-grower in Monterey, Calif., has promoted Stacey Alexander from corporate controller to chief financial officer. Alexander has been with SK Foods since last year, and previously worked at KPMG.

Food services giant Sodexho has named Peter Rosiere vice president for risk management. Rosiere comes to the Gaithersburg, Md., company from R.R. Donnelly & Sons, and will answer to Chief Financial Officer Thierry Amat.

Beacon Roofing Supply of Peabody, Mass., has named Ross Cooper general counsel and corporate secretary. Cooper previously was an outside counsel for numerous businesses, including 10 years as counsel to Building Suppliers Corp.

Davis

Robert Davis, chief financial officer of CA, has left the troubled software company under mutual agreement. Formerly known as Computer Associates, the Islandia, N.Y., company is struggling to emerge from a $2.2 billion accounting fraud that occurred in the early part of the decade. Davis joined the company in 2005 from Dell Corp. In his absence, Corporate Controller Robert Cirabisi will assume CFO duties until a permanent replacement is named.

Navigant Consulting, a risk-management and financial advisory business in Chicago, has named David Wartner corporate controller and principal accounting officer. Wartner comes to Navigant from Packaging Dynamics Corp. , where he was corporate controller. He replaces David Pardun, who recently accepted a job as chief financial officer of consulting firm Whittman Hart.

In Kansas City, Mo., railroad holding company Kansas City Southern has named a series of financial appointments. Patrick Ottensmeyer chief financial officer, and Susan Wollenberg vice president of financial planning. Julio Quintero has been named controller for KSU’s Mexican subsidiary, and Nicholas Nocita promoted from general director of financial compliance to assistant vice president of international internal audit and compliance. Earlier this year, KSC missed filing its 2005 financial report, citing delays in combining financial statements from its Mexican subsidiary. The company did not specifically say whether that problem led to its personnel reshuffling.

Pamela Keefe, senior director of financial strategy with IDX Systems Corp. in Rutland, Vt., has been named vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Central Vermont Public Service. Keefe held a variety of positions with IDX over the last nine years.

Walsh

The chief financial officer of Silicon Labs, Russ Brennan, passed away last week after a long battle with cancer. The Austin, Texas-based company has begun a search for a replacement, and in the interim Corporate Controller Paul Walsh will act as CFO.

In Grand Rapids, Mich., Spartan Stores has appointed Frederick Morganthall to its board of directors and audit committee. Morganthall, whose term expires in 2007, is president of Harris Teeter, a division of Ruddick Corp.

On The Board

Christopher Pechock has resigned from the audit committee of COMSYS IT Partners. The company says Pechock left on good terms, but his departure now leaves the Houston-based company with only two independent directors and in violation of Nasdaq listing rules. COMSYS hopes to find a replacement by its annual shareholder meeting in July.

In Itasca, Ill., home-accessories maker Enesco Group has announced the retirement of George Ditomassi from its board of directors and audit committee. Ditomassi, 71, had served on Enesco’s board since 2000 and was facing the board’s mandatory retirement age; no replacement was immediately named.

Cronin

In Canton, Mass., audio-video equipment retailer Tweeter Home Entertainment has named Michael Cronin to its audit committee. He replaces Mathew Bronfman, who resigned from Tweeter’s board, and has served as an audit committee member before. Cronin is managing partner of Weston Presidio, a private equity firm.

Software giant SAP has created a new business unit specifically to offer governance, risk and compliance solutions to customers. The new unit stems from SAP’s recent acquisition of Virsa Systems, a specialty software company that focuses on governance, and it will offer software and services for compliance obligations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II and pharmaceutical regulations.
