Glassman

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Republican Senate staffer Kathleen Casey to a five-year term as a commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, succeeding Cynthia Glassman, who leaves this month. Casey most recently served as staff director and counsel to the Senate Banking Committee. Prior to that, she served as chief of staff and legislative director for Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.).

Executive Moves

Progressive Gaming International Corp., a Las Vegas-based maker of casino games, has promoted Heather Rollo from chief accounting officer to chief financial officer and treasurer. She replaces departing Chief Financial Officer Michael Sicuro.

Ragan

In Chantilly, Va., IT services firm GTSI Corp. has named Joseph Ragan corporate controller. Ragan has held various financial jobs at AES Corp., Winstar Communications and Deloitte & Touche, and previously spent time as a military intelligence officer with the U.S. Army.

In Indianapolis, Republic Airways Holdings has appointed Timothy Dooley vice president of financial planning and analysis. Before joining Republic, Dooley was a senior auditor at Ernst & Young.

Energy industry technology supplier Comverge has promoted Michael Picchi to chief financial officer. Picchi previously served as the Duluth, Ga.-based company’s chief accounting officer.

Greg Barber has resigned as chief accounting officer of Giant Industries, an oil refinery business in Scottsdale, Ariz., to pursue other career opportunities. Mark Cox, Giant’s chief financial officer, will assume Barber’s duties until a replacement is found.

China TechFaith Wireless, a maker of mobile phone software based in Beijing, has named Christopher Holbert chief financial officer, replacing Peter Wei, who had been acting CFO. Holbert most recently served as director of finance for CDC Corp., where he managed financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and similar duties.

In Miami, World Fuel Services Corp. announced that its chief financial officer, Robert Tocci, has resigned from the company to pursue other interests. Francis Shea, World Fuel’s chief risk and administrative officer, will act as CFO until a replacement is found. The company has also promoted Paul Nobel from vice president of corporate finance to chief accounting officer. Nobel joined World Fuel in 2005 from Mayor’s Jewelers.

Global Logistics Acquisition Corp., a New York-based holding company for transportation and logistics businesses, has named Ken Saunders chief financial officer, treasurer and corporate secretary. Saunders previously worked at Blue Line Advisers and succeeds Mitchel Friedman, who has left the company.

Lloyd Hollingsworth has joined CPS Energy, a gas and electricity utility in San Antonio, Texas, as chief risk officer. He comes to CPS from consulting firm R.W. Beck, where he headed up Beck’s enterprise risk management practice.

Sklarsky

Agribusiness giant ConAgra Foods has begun looking for a new chief financial officer. The Omaha, Neb.-based company says current CFO Frank Sklarsky will leave the company once a permanent replacement is found.

UnumProvident Corp., an insurer based in Chattanooga, Tenn., has announced that Chief Financial Officer Robert Greving is on extended leave while he recovers from surgery. Joseph Zurbretsky, the company’s vice president of finance, will assume the CFO job on an interim basis until Greving’s return.

Newspaper chain Gannett has named Jay Bachmann assistant controller. Bachman comes to the McLean, Va.-based company from Lafarge North America, where he was controller.

In Little Rock, Ark., telecommunications company Alltel has announced that Treasurer John Ebner will assume additional duties as senior vice president of treasury and investor relations. Tony Thomas, Alltel’s previous head of investor relations, has been named controller of Windstream Communications, an Alltel spin-off.

On The Board

Esterline Corp., an aerospace equipment manufacturer based in Bellevue, Wash., has appointed Paul Haack to its board of directors and audit committee. Haack recently retired from Deloitte & Touche, where he was a senior partner.

Douglas Neve has been named to the board of directors and audit committee at Golf Galaxy, a golf retailer based in Eden Prairie, Minn. Neve is chief financial officer of Ceridian Corp.

Heartland Express, a trucking company based in Coralville, Iowa, has appointed James Pratt to its board of directors. Pratt is chief financial officer of Hills Bank & Trust and a certified public accountant.

Consulting firm Towers Perrin has acquired the business of Risk Capital Management Partners Corp., another consulting firm based in New York. Risk Capital co-founders David Shimko and Brett Humphreys will help lead the expanded practice, which is currently led by Prakash Shimpi.
