Executive Moves

Michael Palu has been named acting chief financial officer of Internet service provide Extreme Networks in Santa Clara, Calif. Palu, the company controller, replaces former CFO William Slakey, who is taking a sabbatical.

In Aurora, Ill., Nicor has promoted Karen Pepping to controller. Pepping is responsible for the gas company’s corporate accounting functions. Prior to joining Nicor, Pepping served as assistant corporate controller at Wallace Computer Services.

Roy Rumbough has been appointed controller and chief accounting officer of Lennox International, replacing the retiring Dave Inman. Before joining the Dallas-based heating, cooling and ventilation company, Rumbough was corporate controller at Maytag Corp.

Perrigo has named Judy Brown chief financial officer and chief accounting officer, succeeding Douglas Schrank, who has retired. Brown previously served the Allegan, Mich., health care supplier as corporate controller.

Kansas City, Mo.-based pork supplier Premium Standard Farms has promoted Blake Day from vice president of corporate accounting and finance to vice president of business development. Before joining Premium Standard, Day was assistant controller for Seaboard Farms, an integrated pork processor.

Mark Williams, corporate controller of Mediware Information Systems, has been named as the Lenexa, Kan.-based medical software company’s acting chief accounting officer. He will fulfill the accounting duties of outgoing departing Chief Financial Officer Jill Suppes. Prior to joining Mediware, Williams worked for Ernst & Young.

Bus and transportation company Laidlaw International has promoted Jeffrey Sanders from corporate controller to chief financial officer; John Zyck has also been promoted from assistant corporate controller to corporate controller at the Napierville, Ill. company.

Florida Rock Industries has appointed Barbara Christie Johnston corporate counsel and corporate secretary. Johnston joins the Jacksonville, Fla., construction materials provider from the law firm of McGuire Woods, where she was a partner.

Beaverton Ore.-based Enuclia Semiconductor has hired Chip Burczak as chief financial officer. Prior to joining Enuclia, he served as vice president and corporate controller for San Jose, Calif.-based Cadence Design Systems.

AvcomEast has hired Jon D'Andrea as corporate controller. He will oversee all aspects of the Vienna, Va.-based consultancy’s finance and accounting functions.

In Omaha, Neb., Team Financial has appointed Rick Tremblay chief accounting officer, and expects to promote him to chief financial officer by the end of the year. Tremblay comes to the construction- and security-industry consulting firm from Gold Banc Corp., where he was CFO and corporate secretary.

IASIS Healthcare has appointed John Doyle chief accounting officer. Doyle previously served the Franklin, Tenn., hospital operator as treasurer, and has also worked for Ernst & Young and KPMG.

Eden Prairie, Minn.-based content management software provider Stellent has promoted Corporate Controller Darin McAreavey to chief financial officer. McAreavey replaces Gregg Waldon, who recently resigned. Prior to Stellent, McAreavey worked in accounting capacities for Computer Network Technology.

Jeanne Batemen has retired as controller, chief accounting officer and assistant secretary from Transcend Services, an Atlanta-based medical transcription company.

Valaitis

In New York, Edward Valaitis has been appointed officer-in-charge of Amper Risk Advisers. Prior to joining Amper, Valaitis worked for BDO Seidman, consulting on internal audit, risk mitigation, information systems security and Sarbanes-Oxley issues.

McLean, Va.-based consultancy BearingPoint has appointed Russ Berland chief compliance officer. Berland most recently worked in the office of business practices at Hewlett-Packard, where he designed and implemented SOX compliance systems, ethics and compliance policies and training programs, and conducted internal investigations.

Pacific Capital Bancorp says its controller and principal accounting officer, Charles Osberg, will resign from the company Aug. 11 to pursue other opportunities. Osberg became the Santa Barbara, Calif.-based banking company’s controller in May 2003.

In Toronto, Biovail Corp. has appointed Wendy Kelley general counsel and corporate secretary. Kelley joins the pharmaceutical company from BMO Financial Group, where she was responsible for corporate governance, litigation issues and risk management.

SRA International has promoted William Bell to director of information assurance and privacy solutions, and Melissa Burgum to corporate controller. The Fairfax, Va. company provides consulting services to federal government organizations.

On The Board

Ruby Tuesday has elected Kevin Clayton, chief executive officer of Clayton Homes, to a seat on its board of directors. Clayton will serve on the nominating and governance committee as well as the compensation and stock option committee.

From The Vendors

Canadian airline WestJet has selected Intellitactics Security Manager along with Intellitactics SAM as its enterprise security management software. Security Manager will be used to automate processes for security operations to simplify reporting for audit.

Flash memory company Spansion has purchased the Movaris Sarbanes-Oxley solution to assist in the automation of its compliance processes for its worldwide operations. Spansion is using Movaris Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance to evaluate and test internal controls throughout its finance operations.

NCR Corp.’s Teradata division has introduced its Teradata Enterprise Risk Management solution. The company says the solution “is expected to help financial-services institutions respond to regulatory requirements while creating strategic value for the business enterprise.” The solution combines hardware, software and consulting services.
