Executive Moves

Hinton

Eric Hinton has been named corporate ethics and compliance manager at Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar. Before assuming this role, he served as corporate international trade counsel for the construction and mining manufacturer’s legal department.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based grocery distributor Spartan Stores has appointed Alex DeYonker as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Previously, DeYonker was a managing partner for the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd.

Career Education Corp., a for-profit educational institution trying to shake off past accounting woes and shareholder uprisings, has announced the resignation of Janice Block, the company’s general counsel and corporate secretary. CEC’s legal department will report directly to Chief Executive Officer John Larson on an interim basis, until a replacement is found.

Rinsky

Jason Rinsky has joined DRS Technologies as the company’s senior vice president of corporate taxation. Rinsky, who previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be responsible for all aspects of taxation for the Parsippany, N.J.-based military defense manufacturer.

Synthesis Energy Systems, a Houston-based energy and technology company, has appointed Carol Pearson corporate controller. Previously, she was director of internal audit at Camden Property Trust and EGL.

Richson

Cynthia Richson, formerly the chief governance officer at the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, has quit the pension fund to take the helm of the newly formed Investor Responsibility Research Center Institute. The IRRC Institute plans to publish research data for institutional investors on environmental, social and governance issues.

In Boise, Idaho, educational services and products provider PCS Edventures has reshuffled its finance staff. Christina Vaughn, formerly chief financial officer, is now the company’s chief compliance officer. Shannon Wilson, assistant CFO since last year, has been promoted to CFO.

Peggy Loyd, vice president of corporate compliance and internal audit for Westar Energy, will become vice president of customer care once her replacement is named for the Topeka, Kan.-based electric utility.

Nissan North America has named Rakesh Kochhar director of the company’s treasury department. He replaces Kazuhiko Kazama, who will return to Nissan’s world headquarters in Tokyo. Also, Rachel Serina has been appointed senior manager of NNA’s Treasury Funding Group.

Rutter, a technology and engineering firm based in St. John, Newfoundland, has promoted Corporate Controller Karen Snook to chief financial officer, following the resignation of Derek Hiscock.

Roger Raber, chief executive officer of the National Association of Corporate Directors, has announced that he will retire by March 2007. Raber has been head of the NACD since 1999. The NACD plans to conduct a nationwide search for his replacement.

Robert Lamb is replacing Allan Tessler as a board member for Interactive Data Corp., a Bedford, Mass.-based financial market data provider. Lamb, the co-founder chief executive officer of Smithfield, R.I.-based Tercet Capital, will serve as chairman of Interactive’s audit committee.

Cimarex Energy has selected OpenPages’ Government Platform to integrate its compliance activities in a single management system.

Internet Initiative Japan, an Internet service provider based in Japan, is releasing IIJ Secure MX Service, an email security application that provides services such as spam blocking and email archiving. IIJ contends that the service will enable stronger internal control and a reduction of total costs, without modification to a company’s existing mail system.

Cisco Systems and SAP have entered into a joint marketing agreement for the United States and Canada that will address governance, risk and compliance business processes and IT control issues across the entire IT infrastructure.
