Accounting firm Weaver and Tidwell has announced the launch of a new Transaction Advisory Services practice that will provide due diligence and business valuations to private equity companies, as well as companies that are in transition.

Weaver and Tidwell’s Transition Advisory Services practice offers business valuations based on accounting, tax, and finance expertise combined with the use and development of sophisticated valuation methodologies that provide complex financial reporting and tax requirements. Valuation services include purchase price allocations; goodwill and intangible asset impairment; option and warrant valuations; fresh start accounting; taxes and regulatory estate planning; and mergers and acquisitions.

Brian Reed will lead the new practice, and serve as its new director. In his new position, Reed will act as the director managing the delivery and marketing of the service, and will oversee due diligence activities on both the buy-side and sell-side of corporate transactions.

Reed brings to the firm more than 11 years of financial advisory experience, including financial due diligence and business valuation for a variety of industries. Prior to joining Weaver and Tidwell, he founded Lone Star Value Advisors, a professional valuation and advisory firm that offered comprehensive services to middle-market private equity funds and corporate clients.
