No, we are not going to change the name of this blog to "Whistleblower Action," despite the heavy play we have been giving the subject here and on WhistleblowerWeekComplianceWeek in general.

Now that we have that squared away, I though you might be interested in some more whistleblower news coming out of the SEC! As this job posting shows, the SEC is now actively trying to hire someone to serve as its new "Whistleblower Coordination Officer." The SEC states that the Division of Enforcement's Whistleblower Coordinator will operate on a nationwide basis with three core areas of focus:

(1) performing intake, tracking and record keeping of whistleblower tips;

(2) overseeing the review process for eligible whistleblower claims and presenting recommendations to the Commission concerning whistleblower awards; and

(3) communicating with the general public, the Commission, and reporting to Congress on the whistleblower program.

In all seriousness, this sounds like one tough job: keeping tabs on thousands of tips, dealing with emotional whistleblowers who all think you are standing in the way of their million dollar bounty, making sure you don't ignore the next hidden Madoff-type tip, and reporting everything you do (and do not do) to Congress.

If you think you are up to it, the posting is open until September 22, 2010.
