Daniel Trujillo, currently deputy general counsel and director of compliance at Schlumberger, says that he will be departing the oil field services company at the end of the month to assume the role of senior vice president and chief compliance officer for retail giant Walmart International.

Trujillo today confirmed the move with Compliance Week.

The newly-created role at Walmart International comes in the wake of a federal investigation over accusations that its current and former chief executives and many of its other leaders engaged a massive bribery scheme to win market share in Mexico in the early 2000s.

Trujillo joined Schlumberger in 1997 as legal counsel of Latin America and has held roles of increasing responsibility since that time. In his current role as deputy general counsel and director of compliance at Schlumberger Limited, Trujillo is responsible, in part, for the management of Schlumberger's global compliance program, managing a compliance group of over 125 employees, according to his LinkedIn page. He previously served as senior attorney at food producer Cargill from 1995 until 1997.

Trujillo will join Walmart Oct. 29.
