Valentine Capital Asset Management, a fee-based money management firm with over $600 million in assets, has hired Reynold Samoranos as chief compliance officer. He reports directly to John Valentine, founder and president of Valentine Capital Asset Management.

With over 23 years of experience in the investment management industry, Samoranos joins Valentine from Hammerman Capital Management, a hedge fund manager, where he served as both chief financial officer and chief compliance officer. Previously, Samoranos was the founding principal of the real estate investment firm RKB Investment Group, and earlier was CFO and senior vice president of Newport Pacific Management, a San Francisco based $3 billion international investment management firm.

Prior to Newport Pacific Management, Samoranos served as CFO and SVP of operations and trading at Hanson Investment Management Company, an investment management firm, where he was responsible for all non-investment operations and played a leading role in growing the firm's assets under management to $2.5 billion. Earlier, Samoranos was vice president and regional controller at then-Citicorp's West Coast Institutional Banking Group.
