U.S. Bancorp has appointed James Chosy as executive vice president and general counsel, effective March 1. He will assume this role from current Vice President and General Counsel Lee Mitau, who is retiring.

Chosy will join the bank in late January to work with Mitau before he retires to ensure a smooth transition.

Chosy currently serves as general counsel and secretary of investment bank Piper Jaffray Companies. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray in 2001, he served as associate general counsel at U.S. Bancorp. He began his career at law firm Dorsey & Whitney.
