Global law firm White & Case has appointed Charlie Monteith, who has served for four years as a senior official in the UK Serious Fraud Office, as counsel in its London office.

As the Head of Assurance at the SFO, Monteith has been a leading policy advisor and was one of the key experts involved in the drafting of the UK's new Bribery Act, which is a complete overhaul of the UK's anti-bribery and corruption regime. He has also been one of the UK's leading economic crime enforcers in recent years, involved in many of the SFO's most high profile cases.

Earlier this year White & Case expanded its market-leading white collar and litigation capabilities with the addition of partner Kenneth Caruso in New York from Bracewell & Giuliani, and a seven-lawyer team, including partners Michel Beaussier and Isabelle Fenayrou-Degas, from the French specialist white collar firm Beaussier & Associés in Paris.
