You may think that compliance issues such as revenue recognition or conflicts of interest are not funny, but The Second City – the comedy theater that has produced alumni such as John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, John Candy, Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert and Tina Fey – begs to differ. And having just seen some of Second City's work in the compliance area at the just-concluded Compliance Week 2011 annual conference, I must say that Second City is right and you are wrong!

Second City Communications, the corporate services division of Second City, works with corporations to introduce the element of comedy and improvisation to improve training and communications programs. It sounds like it wouldn't work but having seen my share of really bad corporate training videos, I think the types of videos SCC is creating have a much better chance of being watched and remembered by employees. At the Compliance Week conference, for example, SCC presented a funny video about insider trading that served as an introduction of sorts for the keynote speech of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

SCC offers a few sample videos on its website. Click on the image below to check them out.
