The Hartford, an insurance group benefits and mutual funds company, has promoted Patricia McEvoy to chief ethics and compliance officer.

Prior to her promotion, McEvoy served as vice president and assistant general counsel in the corporate, property and casualty litigation unit of the law department, overseeing a unit of lawyers and staff responsible for corporate litigation. In her new role, McEvoy will be responsible for leading enterprise compliance, and will report to Executive Vice President and General Counsel Alan Kreczko.

McEvoy joined The Hartford in 2000 and has served in a variety of roles within the law department. Prior to The Hartford, she served as counsel at United Healthcare Corporation and Travelers Insurance Company. Earlier in her career, she was a partner in the litigation department of a Boston law firm.
