It is Friday, so let's take a brief break from the serious to try to answer the following question: why did the SEC change the photo on the cover of its Facebook page for "Career Opportunities?" The true answer may never be known but I believe there is a simple explanation: the need to eliminate the "Travolta Factor."

As a reminder for those of you who have not watched "Saturday Night Fever" recently, here is Travolta in his glory days as Tony Manero.

Tony has been out of the spotlight for some time, but he (or perhaps his 20-something-year-old son?) suddenly reappeared in March 2012 as one of the cover boys of the SEC Recruiting Facebook page:

For those of you who are having trouble spotting Tony Manero/Son of Tony Manero in the SEC Career Opportunities photo due to the fact that he changed his pants from white to black, I have taken the liberty of pointing him out with the red arrow above.

What career, specifically, awaits someone dressed like that at the SEC? We will never know because in October 2012, after just seven months, the SEC eliminated Manero/Travolta and all of his pants-suited friends from its Facebook cover page in favor of this crew:

Given the disappearance of all-white jackets from today's business fashion, it seems highly unlikely that Tony Manero will be returning to the cover page anytime soon. His seven months as the public face of SEC Recruiting will hopefully be preserved here forever, however.
