Susquehanna Bancshares, a financial services holding company, has hired Kevin Burns as executive vice president and chief risk officer.

In this role, Burns is responsible for enterprise risk management, corporate compliance, security, information security administration, business continuity, insurance risk management, community reinvestment, and credit review. He serves as a member of the company's executive management team, reporting to the risk committee of the board of directors.

"In light of increasing demands and regulatory focus on the discipline of risk management, it is the right time to expand the leadership team of our risk management group," said Susquehanna Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William Reuter.

With more than 18 years of experience, Burns worked most recently as director, governance, regulatory and risk management for Deloitte & Touche's national banking and securities practice. He has also worked in risk management for Bank of America; JP Morgan; and ABN AMRO/LaSalle Bank.
