Annual pay and bonus compensation for chief compliance officers at public companies jumped to $419,000 since 2023, while CCOs at private companies saw a slight decrease to nearly $300,000, according to a new compensation survey.
The “2024 Chief Compliance Officer Compensation Report,” published Monday by executive search and advisory firm BarkerGilmore, also found that annual pay and bonus compensation for CCOs at nonprofits rose 12 percent since 2023, to $250,000. Public company CCO compensation was up 7 percent compared to 2023, while private company pay was down one percent, the survey found.
Survey respondents were senior-level compliance officers in the United States who answered an online poll. Approximately 56 percent of respondents worked for private companies, 29 percent for public companies, and 15 percent for nonprofits.
