Sun River Energy, a Dallas-based, development-stage oil and gas exploration and production company, has appointed Steven Henson to serve as an independent member of its board of directors. He also will serve on the audit committee.

Since 1989, Henson has served as the director of emergency medicine at several hospitals. He also is currently the president and CEO marketing and advertising company, Indulge Media Group.

In other news, Sun River Energy also appointed James Pennington as general counsel and secretary. He has been acting as the general counsel since Jan. 12. Pennington, who has practiced law for  25 years, previously was acting as outside legal counsel for the company.

New CFO

The company also appointed Judson Hoover as chief financial officer. He will be replacing Don Schmidt as acting CFO, so that Schmidt may focus on his duties as CEO of the company.  Since Jan. 12, Hoover has been employed by the company on an interim basis to provide financial and other services.

With over 20 years of national and international experience in executive management, 10 years of which were in oil and gas, Hoover most recently served as controller for Union Drilling from June 2007 to June 2009. Previously, he served as CFO Ness Energy International from December 2004 to March 2007.
