Medical device company Stryker has appointed Michael Hutchinson to lead the company's legal and compliance function, in addition to serving in his current role as general counsel.

Hutchinson assumes the legal and compliance role from Curtis Hall, chief legal officer, who has elected to shift to a part-time role as senior legal counsel. Hall has led Stryker's legal function since becoming the company's first general counsel in 1994.

Effective as of March 31, Hutchinson's role has been expanded to include corporate compliance and the corporate secretary function. He also serves as a member of Stryker's executive leadership team.

Hutchinson joined Stryker as assistant counsel in June 2008 prior to his promotion to chief legal counsel for the Orthopaedics Group in December 2008; deputy general counsel in 2012; and general counsel in 2013.
