Stroz Friedberg, a global investigations, intelligence, and risk services firm, announced this week that Alicia Villarreal has been named managing director in the firm's Los Angeles office.

In her role at Stroz Friedberg, she will be responsible for leading complex internal investigations, as well as conducting intelligence and due diligence matters for clients across the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Villarreal joins Stroz Friedberg after serving as the regional representative for the U.S. Secretary of Labor in President Barack Obama's Administration. In this role, she acted as trusted liaison with federal, state, and local government officials and agencies, large and small businesses, academic institutions, not-for-profit organizations, and other key stakeholders in the western United States.

Prior to her appointment by President Obama, Villarreal was a partner in the litigation group of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius where she directed in-depth investigations and compliance engagements for the firm's domestic and international clients. Before that, she served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California for over 14 years investigating and prosecuting federal criminal cases involving public corruption; corporate, bank, tax, healthcare, and government procurement frauds; and breaches of national security and espionage laws.
