SRS Labs, a surround sound, audio enhancement, and voice post-processing technologies company, has promoted Maria Oppegard to the position of chief accounting officer.

Oppegard, who has been with SRS Labs since 2005, has served as the company's corporate controller for the past six years, as well as acting principal financial officer since August 2011 until October, when Walter "Chuck" McBride was appointed chief financial officer.

During her tenure, Oppegard has been instrumental in establishing a royalty compliance program, which has resulted in the identification and recovery of millions of dollars of underreported royalties and securing new, long-term, multi-million dollar license agreements with key customers. She also has played a significant role in the company's global expansion, by assisting with the formation of the company's wholly-owned subsidiaries in Shenzhen and Shanghai, China and in Tokyo, Japan and managing their on-going financial operations. During her tenure, Oppegard also led the successful implementation of the company's internal controls over financial reporting.

Prior to working for SRS Labs, Oppegard spent six years at KPMG, where she was an audit manager, providing audit services primarily for public companies in the technology, telecommunications and software industries.
