The international legal practice of SNR Denton announced the opening of a new State Attorneys General practice, headed by former Florida Attorney General, Bill McCollum, and former Indiana Attorney General, Jeff Modisett.

The practice offers clients a proactive team with direct experience in managing the nuances of an Attorney General matter, spotting trends ahead of potential investigations, responding to investigative inquiries and meeting the challenges of litigation where law, policy and politics converge. The new State Attorneys General practice includes lawyers and professionals with significant experience working in US state attorneys general offices around the country, including Avi Schick (New York), Ben Weinberg (Chicago), Nick Yost (San Francisco), Dennis Lee (Washington, DC), Joe Colagiovanni (St. Louis), Jack Lawlor (Chicago), Dan Spirn (St. Louis), David Kiefer (Short Hills) and Dan Gibb (Kansas City), along with colleagues nationally with active practices before AG offices.

McCollum recently concluded his four-year team as Florida Attorney General, and joins as a partner in Washington, D.C. Prior to becoming the Florida Attorney General in 2007, McCollum was a partner with Baker & Hostetler's government policy practice from 2001-2007.

Between 1981-2001, McCollum was a member of the US House of Representatives, representing Florida's 8th District where he served on the Judiciary, Banking and Financial Services, and Intelligence Committees. He also held a number of leadership positions, including chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime; vice chairman for six years of the Banking and Financial Services Committee; ranking member of the subcommittee overseeing the Federal Reserve; and vice chairman of the House of Republican Conference for three terms (one of eight House GOP leadership positions).

Modisett, who will the the firm's Los Angeles office, has been in private practice for the past decade, where he built a practice advising Fortune 500 and high-technology companies on privacy, competition, consumer protection and related issues. Prior to private practice, Modisett served as Deputy Chief of the Public Corruption and Government Fraud Section of the US Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. He also served as deputy CEO and general counsel of the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles.
