$14.2 billion privately owned SemGroup Corporation has hired Candice Cheeseman as general counsel, effective Feb. 22. In this role, Cheeseman will provide leadership and direct the legal affairs of the corporation concerning legal rights, obligations and privileges, as well as establish legal policy, processes and advise management on legal issues relative to company policies.

Before joining SemGroup, Cheeseman was employed at Global Power, where she was vice president, administration, general counsel, and corporate secretary. In this role, Cheeseman was a member of the senior executive management team and advised operations, management, and the board of directors on legal issues, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and director responsibilities. She also acted as the company’s compliance officer.

Cheeseman has international experience in North America, China, and the Netherlands. In addition, she worked at Wiltel as the general counsel and secretary, and at Williams Communications as a senior attorney.
