Uh oh. I noticed in the SEC's recent job posting for a new Chief Counsel that its long-standing boast (“RANKED THIRD BEST FEDERAL WORKPLACE FOR 2007!”), which it had included in job postings all the way into March 2010, had mysteriously disappeared. Now we may know why.

The Washington Post reports that for 2010, the SEC placed 24th out of 32 federal workplaces, and it probably goes without saying that “RANKED TWENTY-FOURTH BEST FEDERAL WORKPLACE FOR 2010!” is unlikely to appear in any current job postings.

I have taken the liberty of updating the commemorative "We're #3 in 2007!" tee shirts I offered back in November to reflect the new reality.
