The Securities and Exchange Commission's Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies will hold its next meeting on Sept. 7 in San Francisco to discuss market structure and disclosure rules among other issues affecting smaller companies

The committee was formed last year as a forum for the SEC to receive advice and recommendations on privately-held small businesses and publicly-traded companies with a market capitalization of less than $250 million. More information about the initiative is available here.

Although the meetings are typically held at the SEC's Washington headquarters, the West Coast event was scheduled to give regulators a perspective on the character of businesses in that region and the specific issues they face.

The meeting will be held at the SEC's San Francisco Regional Office, 44 Montgomery St., Suite 2800, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Pacific Time).

The event is open to the public, but pre-registration is required by Sept. 5. To attend, send an e-mail to SmallBusiness@sec.gov with the subject line of “Register for Advisory Committee Meeting” and provide a name, phone number, and any organizational affiliation. To register by phone, call (202) 551-3460. All attendees will be required to show a government-issued photo ID to gain entrance.

The meeting will not be webcast, but a live audio feed will be available by calling (877) 732-6722 and providing the Meeting ID number 1535.
