The SEC continues to take body blows from its own Inspector General, Congress and the press, but the agency's chairman has confirmed that she has no plans to leave the agency any time soon. The WSJ reports that SEC Chair Mary Schapiro intends to remain as head of the agency for "another year, if not longer." In the WSJ article yesterday, SEC spokesman John Nester confirmed Schapiro's plans to stay on.

An unnamed White House official also told the WSJ on Monday that President Obama is "grateful" for Schapiro's "tireless work to ensure that the Commission is effectively fulfilling its mission of enforcement, implementing reforms of the financial system, and protecting our public markets. We understand she has no intention of leaving and hope she stays on."
