According to the latest status report on the SEC's administrative proceedings, the Commission's caseload is getting heavier.

No surprises there.

Tracked every six months, the report shows that the number of "new matters added" has increased steadily over prior periods, in some cases nearly doubling.

But, more importantly, the median age of the matters at the time of decision has decreased significantly, down to 449 days during the last six-month period (ending Mar. 31).

During the previous six months, the median age at decision was 933 days.
