On September 18, Compliance Week and Crowe Horwath presented an editorial roundtable at the Peninsula Hotel in Los Angeles. The focus of the roundtable, which was moderated by Compliance Week Editor Matt Kelly, was on mobile devices, social media, and data security. Attendees' full biographies are below.

Stella Acosta

Stella Acosta serves as director of internal audit for Motorcar Parts of America (MPA), which is headquartered in Torrance, California. MPA remanufactures, produces, and distributes automobile parts for import and domestic cars and light trucks, as well as heavy duty, agricultural, and industrial applications in the United States and Canada. Reporting to the audit committee chairperson, Acosta provides companywide assurance and consultative services that include preparation and execution of the annual audit plan, performance of the annual SOX assessment, and management of the company's ethics phone line. Stella works closely with the executive management committee and SOX steering committee, sits on the IT steering committee, and chairs the policy and procedures committee. Prior to joining MPA, Acosta was the director of internal audit and corporate governance for Hines Horticulture Inc. In addition to her work, Acosta serves as the chief audit executive roundtable chair for the Orange County Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors.

Bruce Anderson

Stephen Arietta

VP of Internal AuditUnited Online

 

Stephen Arietta has over 12 years of internal audit and risk-management experience in the technology, consumer products and services, entertainment, and hospitality industries. In his current role as vice president of internal audit, Arietta created the internal audit department and has developed the department's responsibilities to include internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, and various areas of governance, risk, and compliance. Prior to joining United Online, Arietta worked as an associate director at Protiviti Inc., where he advised numerous clients with their internal audit, enterprise risk management, and governance, risk, and compliance initiatives. Arietta is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and has a Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA).

Raj Chaudhary

Rick Dukhovny

Rick Dukhovny is the vice president of corporate governance for ValueClick, Inc., a publicly traded online marketing company located in Westlake Village, Calif. ValueClick services online advertising campaigns and programs for advertisers and advertising agencies in the United States and internationally. Dukhovny is responsible for ValueClick's global audit compliance efforts, including Sarbanes-Oxley, risk management, security, privacy, and industry-specific regulatory requirements. Dukhovny has over 15 years of audit and compliance experience within various industries including entertainment, banking, manufacturing, and technology.

Rick Frye

Senior Manager, ITKB Home

 

Rick Frye is the director of IT at KB Home in Los Angeles. In this role, he oversees all the groups involved in the development, maintenance, and support of KB Home's internal business systems. KB builds houses for first-time, trade-up, and active buyers primarily in the West, Southwest, and along the East Coast. The company markets houses under its Built to Order brand and has built more than a half a million homes since it was founded in 1957. Frye joined KB Home in 2004. Prior to joining KB Home, he served as a manager at Accenture for more than seven years.

Lisa Hancock

Lisa Hancock is responsible for quality, regulatory compliance, privacy, security, risk management, patient satisfaction, complaints, and safety for physicians and their patients. She develops system-level clinical outcome improvements, patient satisfaction (HCAHPS), resource utilization, and cost of care projects. She also develops employee education and administered the education to all levels of the organization, including developing a Clinical Documentation Improvement Program (CDIP) for physicians. In addition, she is responsible for implementation of a new federal regulation for a health system that included 10 acute care hospitals, 3000 physicians, outpatient clinics, occupational health, home care, hospice, research, and fundraising. The health system is the largest healthcare provider in the state of Indiana, and the 5th largest in the nation. She also consults on billing regulations and care standards in 44 states for 4,500 physicians. She has experience providing consulting on Natural Language Processing (NLP) for medical coding assignment and accuracy improvement.

Bart Kimmel

Bart Kimmel has over 26 years of progressive experience in information technology audit and advisory services, internal audit co-sourcing, enterprise risk management, and software development. He is currently the southern california geography leader in Crowe's Risk Consulting Practice and works closely and partners with senior executives, board of directors, and audit committees in several industries to identify, prioritize, and develop short- and long-term strategies to mitigate and leverage critical cross-organizational risks to protect the long-term viability and boost market share. Kimmel is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a certified Information Systems Auditor, and he is certified in risk and information systems control.

Ged Nichols

Ged Nichols is the vice president of corporate audit at FOX Group. In this capacity he is responsible for directing all internal control reviews, investigations, and special projects in the financial, compliance, operational, and information systems areas of the company. FOX Group is comprised of the media and entertainment businesses of FOX that are based in Los Angeles and includes the worldwide operations of FOX Filmed Entertainment, FOX Broadcasting Company, and the Cable Networks Group. Nichols is a U.K. Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of internal audit and financial accounting leadership experience gained at well-known branded companies including Disney, Live Nation/Ticketmaster, British Airways, Colgate, and Kodak. His career has spanned both sides of the Atlantic, with spells in London, New York, Charlotte, and Los Angeles.

Diane Novak

Chief Compliance OfficerToyota Financial Services

 

Diane Novak, chief compliance officer for Toyota Financial Services, is responsible for creating and maintaining an integrated and holistic approach to managing compliance across the enterprise. Novak was previously senior compliance officer in Washington Mutual's Corporate Compliance Division from 2004 to 2008 and chief compliance officer at WaMu Capital Corp. from 2002 to 2004. Prior to joining WaMu, Novak was employed as chief compliance officer at U.S. Bancorp Investments. She has worked in the securities industry for over 20 years and is Series 7, 24, and 63 qualified. She serves as a member of editorial board of the Journal of Securities Law, Regulation & Compliance. Novak is currently a member of the NSCP BD committee. She previously served on the NSCP board of directors 2005 to 2008, was the 2007-08 chair of the NSCP BD Committee, and was the 2007-08 chair of NSCP's regulatory affairs sub-committee.

Tom Rudenko

Tom Rudenko is an audit and finance executive specializing in gaming and entertainment. Most recently, Rudenko led the audit function for Caesars Entertainment's western and international brick and mortar casino business as well as their rapidly growing global interactive gaming business, including Facebook and iPad games and the world's foremost poker brand, the World Series of Poker. Prior to Caesars, Rudenko established the internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley processes at the world's largest video game company, Activision Blizzard. Rudenko started his career with Deloitte before moving to Sony to perform reviews of Sony's global film, television and home entertainment businesses. Rudenko is a Certified Public Accountant in California and Nevada.

Maryanne Siek

Maryanne Siek has a lengthy and diverse track record in the information management field. Her experience includes librarianship, records management, knowledge management, business-to-business sales, privacy compliance, competitive intelligence, and consulting. Siek has for such companies as Deloitte and GlaxoSmithKline. She now manages the global records program for Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, the world's largest publicly traded copper producer. At Freeport-McMoRan, Siek has built a strong team of professionals who work closely with IT, legal, and the business to address some of the thorniest information governance challenges, including SharePoint 2010 deployment, e-mail management, unified communications, and defensible disposal for large legacy hardcopy and electronic content repositories. Siek also serves as the company's HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer and is the primary contact for EU Safe Harbor compliance. Currently, Siek serves on the AIIM Grand Canyon Chapter board of directors and is a past director of the ARMA Toronto Chapter. This is Siek's second Compliance Week Roundtable.
