$2.2 billion Primerica, a distributor of financial products, has elected P. George Benson to the company's board of directors. He also will serve on both the audit and compensation committees.

Benson has been the President of the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., since February 2007. Prior to that, he served as Dean of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia from June 1998 through January 2007. From July 1993 to June 1998, Benson served as Dean of the Rutgers Business School and, prior to that, he was on the faculty of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota from 1977 to 1993.
