PPG Industries has named Glenn Bost senior vice president and general counsel. He replaces James Diggs, who will retire as senior vice president and general counsel, effective July 1.

Bost will become a member of PPG's executive and operating committees, reporting to Chairman and CEO Charles Bunch. Bost joined PPG's legal department in Pittsburgh in 1985, working with finance and transactions, and then served as assistant counsel in the international law section supporting the Asia/Pacific region and Canada. He was promoted in 1991 to senior counsel, environment, health and safety, and in 1995 to general counsel, PPG Europe.

Bost returned to Pittsburgh in 1997 as corporate counsel, transactions, and was named in 2000 as assistant general counsel, operations, with initial responsibility for PPG's commercial, labor, and employment, and European attorneys, and responsibility added later for the company's litigation; environment, health, and safety; and intellectual property attorneys. Bost was appointed associate general counsel, operations, in 2005, leading legal support for PPG's corporate operations, and he was named vice president in 2006.
