Pioneer Natural Resources, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, has appointed three new members to its board of directors, effective immediately.

Among the new board members include:

Larry Grillot: currently dean of the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy at the University of Oklahoma, a position he has held since 2006. Previously, Grillot worked at Phillips Petroleum Company from 1973 to 2003 in various technical and managerial positions in exploration and production.

Stacy Methvin: worked for Shell Oil Company in various operational and management roles in the upstream, downstream and chemical businesses for 33 years from 1979 to 2012.

Phoebe Wood: worked at wine and spirits company Brown-Forman Corporation from 2001 to 2008, serving as vice president, and later executive vice president and chief financial officer. From 2000 to 2001, she served as vice president and CFO of Motorola's telecom subsidiary, Propel. Additionally, Wood worked at gas company ARCO from 1976 to 2000 in various financial and planning positions. She also was a director of clothing company OshKosh B'Gosh from 2002 to 2005 where she also served as chair of the audit committee.

Grillot and Methvin will serve as independent directors under the board's appointment for initial terms that expire at Pioneer's annual meeting of stockholders in 2014. Wood will serve as an independent director under the board's appointment for an initial term that expires at Pioneer's annual meeting of stockholders in 2015.
