Spirit AeroSystems, a maker of commercial airplane assemblies, has appointed Christopher Kubasik, the ousted chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin, to its board of directors. He also will serve on the audit committee, and government and security committees.

Kubasik resigned from the role of vice chairman, president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin in November 2012 after an ethics investigation confirmed that he had a close personal relationship with a female subordinate. According to a statement from Lockheed, Kubasik's actions “violated the company's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.”

Kubasik was slated to become Lockheed's chief executive officer in January 2013.

Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Kubasik spent 17 years with Ernst & Young in a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility, prior to be named partner in 1996.
