Home Box Office, the premium-cable television channel, has implemented Oracle's e-Business Suite 12 to help simplify and improve transparency in its financial processes.

HBO says the Oracle software will replace a hodge-podge of legacy systems, integrating various processes to allow better insight into financial data and to increase internal control. The implementation extends across the organization, scaling to support 1,000 casual users and a wide variety of functional groups in finance, operations, and IT. HBO says it is leveraging the power of Oracle Applications to implement more self-service capabilities, shifting how employees manage invoices and enter information online to streamline workflow and achieve greater efficiencies across the organization.

Specifically, HBO will use the following modules of Oracle's e-Business Suite: Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Subledger Accounting, Oracle Payables, Oracle Receivables, Oracle Assets, Oracle iProcurement, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Project Costing and Billing, Oracle Inventory, and Oracle Order Management.

The company did not say how much the implementation cost, nor how long it took.
