Privately owned Western Southern Financial Group, an insurance and financial services company with more than $44 billion in assets under management, has promoted Jonathan Niemeyer to senior vice president and general counsel.

Niemeyer replaces longtime General Counsel Donald Wuebbling, who retired April 1 after a 35-year career with the company. He will be responsible for the law department, corporate compliance, and government relations across the company and its subsidiaries.

Niemeyer joined Western Southern in 2001 as associate counsel in the law department. He was promoted to counsel in 2003 and vice president and associate general counsel in 2004. He previously was an attorney, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and securities with law firms Squire Sanders and Dempsey and Graydon Head & Ritchey.
