The Hartford Financial Services Group, an insurance and wealth management company, has announced in an 8-K filing the election of Kathryn Mikells to its board of directors. She also will serve on the legal and public affairs committee; compensation and personnel committee; and finance, investment and risk management committee.

Mikells was recently named executive vice president and CFO of Nalco, a sustainability services company focused on industrial water, energy and air applications, water treatment and process improvement. Currently, she is executive vice president and CFO for United Airlines’ parent company, UAL Corporation, where she is one of the chief architects of the company’s merger with Continental Airlines. Mikells joined United in 1994 and served in finance roles of increasing responsibility, including vice president and treasurer, vice president of investor relations, and director of corporate planning, among others.
