The Main Street America Group has appointed Bruce Fox as general counsel. He also will serve as a member of the company's senior management team and remain at the company's corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.

Fox, who has been a corporate counsel at the regional property/casualty insurance carrier since 2007, will report to Main Street America Chairman, President and CEO, Tom Van Berkel.

In his new role, Fox will lead Main Street America's corporate law function and provide legal advice and counsel to all company personnel on matters affecting interests of The Main Street America Group, its five subsidiary companies and one affiliate. He will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's business practices, policies and all other dealings meet state and federal regulatory requirements. Additionally, Fox will oversee all aspects of governance for the organization to ensure the company is managed in the best interests of its policyholders.

Fox joined Main Street America in 2002 as a senior field attorney and was promoted to managing attorney in 2006, where he oversaw the company's staff counsel operations in Auburn, Mass. The company's board of directors elected him as assistant secretary in 2008.

Prior to joining Main Street America, Fox was director of legal services for the contract negotiation and benchmarking services division of AMR Research, Boston. His extensive legal experience also includes roles as managing attorney at American International Group, and senior trial attorney at two Boston-area law firms.
