$45.2 billion global security company Lockheed Martin has named Maryanne Lavan as the new senior vice president and general counsel. Lavan, who currently serves as Lockheed Martin's vice president of Internal Audit, succeeds James Comey, whose departure from the company was announced earlier in June.

Prior to her current position, which she has held since 2007, Lavan served as the vice president of ethics and business conduct, responsible for ensuring that all employees are trained to meet Lockheed Martin's high standards for ethical behavior and business conduct. Previously, she served as vice president and general counsel for Lockheed Martin's Electronic Systems business area and as assistant general counsel. Before joining Lockheed Martin in April 1990, Lavan worked for a law firm in Washington, D.C., specializing in government contracts and white-collar crime matters.
