Leighton Holdings, the parent company of international contracting company Leighton Group, has appointed Mike Rollo as chief risk officer.

In recent years, Rollo has been working as an independent strategic and commercial advisor to both government agencies developing major infrastructure projects and private contractors delivering infrastructure projects.

Prior to joining Leighton Holdings, Rollo most recently was a director for WatermanBurns Associates, a consulting firm providing independent advice to the Australasian construction industry.

Rollo assumes the chief risk officer role from Craig van der Laan, who is leaving to pursue other career opportunities. Van der Laan served the Leighton Group as both chief risk officer and group general counsel since June 2011. In the interim, Deputy Group General Counsel Karen Pedersen will assume leadership of the legal function until a permanent appointment is made.
