Big 4 auditing firm KPMG has named James Liddy vice-chairman of its auditing practice, and Thomas Duffy national managing partner of the auditing practice as well.

Liddy was previously national managing partner for audit; he replaces Henry Keizer, who was recently promoted to be KPMG’s chief operating officer. Duffy, in turn, will fill Liddy’s old job.

As vice chair for audit, Liddy will be a member of the firm’s management committee and lead a team of about 8,000 audit partners and professionals. Duffy previously served as partner-in-charge of the metro New York audit practice, managing partner of the New Jersey business unit, and partner-in-charge of KPMG’s audit practice in New Jersey.

In related news, Scott Ozanus, 50, has been named vice chair of the tax practice, and Jeffrey LeSage named national managing partner for tax.

Ozanus, who most recently was the U.S. firm’s west region managing partner for tax, succeeds Shaun Kelly, who will remain on the firm’s management committee as he takes on another senior role for KPMG, vice chair-operations. LeSage succeeds Frederick “Rick” Smith as national managing partner for tax. Smith has assumed a key role within KPMG International.
