Private-equity firm KKR reportedly has tapped Bruce Karpati, a former enforcement official with the Securities and Exchange Commission, to serve as its global chief compliance officer.

He will succeed H.J. Willcox, who left KKR last year for a similar position at AQR Capital Management.

Karpati, who most recently served as the chief compliance officer for Prudential Financial's mutual fund business, is expected to join KKR later this month, people familiar with the matter informed the Wall Street Journal.

Prior to Prudential, Karpati lead the SEC Enforcement Division's Asset Management Unit, where he oversaw the investigations of a wide variety of investment firms.
