KeyCorp, a deposit, lending, cash management and investment services company, has appointed William Hartmann as chief risk officer, effective immediately. Hartmann assumes this position from Chuck Hyle, who is retiring. Hyle will work closely with Hartmann to through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. Hartmann will also serve on the company's management committee.

Hartmann joined the company in 2010 as chief credit officer. In this capacity, he lead KeyCorp's credit risk management functions across the asset recovery, institutional, commercial, real estate and consumer businesses. He was also chairman of the credit risk committee.

Prior to joining the company, Hartmann spent 29 years at Citigroup, where he most recently served as global head of large corporate risk management. While at Citigroup, he served in numerous capacities with increasing responsibility, including chief risk officer for Asia Pacific, head of global portfolio management, co-head of leveraged finance capital markets and global head of loan sales & trading.
