IMA, the association for accountants and financial professionals in business, has elected Sandra Richtermeyer as chair its board of directors for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Through June 30, 2011, Richtermeyer will serve as the senior volunteer leader for the organization’s worldwide network of more than 60,000 accounting and finance professionals, as well as chair of IMA’s governance committee.

Richtermeyer is chair of the Department of Accountancy in the Williams College of Business at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her teaching interests are in the areas of managerial accounting, corporate governance, nonprofit accounting and information systems. Her research interests include technology enablement and enterprise systems, non-profit accounting and professional issues for accountants. She also works actively as a governance consultant and with a variety of professional organizations.

Richtermeyer previously held several other volunteer roles with IMA during the past 15 years, including chair of the planning and development committee; chair of the external and member relations committee; chair of the IMA Foundation for Applied Research; member of the ICMA Board of Regents; professor-in-residence; and chair for the National Committee on Students, in addition to multiple leadership positions at the Chapter and Council level.
