Technology-giant HP has appointed John Schultz as general counsel and executive vice president, effective immediately. He assumes this role from David Healy, who has served as interim general counsel since December 2011.

Schultz also will be a member of HP's executive counsel. He will be responsible for all legal and compliance functions globally.

Schultz, who joined HP in 2008, previously served as vice president and deputy general counsel in charge of litigation. In previous years, Schultz has worked with law firms Morgan Lewis & Brockius; Drinker Biddle & Reath; and Latham & Watkins.
