Home improvement retailer The Home Depot has appointed Mark Vadon to its board of directors. He will also serve on the company's audit and finance committees.

In 2009, Vadon co-founded zulily.com, a daily deals website for moms, babies and kids. He currently serves as the chairman on the company's board of directors. In 1999, he co-founded Blue Nile, an online retailer of diamonds and fine jewelry, and has served as executive chairman, chief executive officer and president for the company.

Prior to Blue Nile, Vadon served as a consultant for management consulting firm Bain & Company.

Vadon's appointment increases the board's size to 11 directors, 10 of whom are independent.
