Guidance Software, a digital investigative solutions provider, has unveiled a new service that helps businesses prepare for litigation before it strikes.

The new Data Mapping Service offers businesses unique insight and awareness into information stored within their IT infrastructure and on their devices. As part of the service, Guidance Software e-discovery experts use EnCase technology to identify the quantity, type and location of electronically stored information (ESI) that might be relevant to litigation.

"A thorough knowledge of corporate IT infrastructure is key to a repeatable and defensible e-discovery process," said Katey Wood, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "By knowing what storage devices exist and what type of information is stored where, businesses can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the e-discovery process.”
