Digital bank N26 announced that Chief Risk Officer Carina Kozole has been promoted to chief regulatory officer.

Kozole will succeed Jan Stechele in the role, who joined the company in 2022 as director of banking excellence.

In April 2023, Stechele was promoted to managing director with primary responsibilities including risk management, anti-money laundering, and fraud prevention, with the bank crediting him for BaFin lifting growth restrictions on the company in May.

Stechele helped strengthen “compliance and risk management approaches and processes, deepening the relationships with regulators across N26’s European markets, and supporting initiatives to improve existing systems and more effectively combat financial crime,” the bank said.
