JBS, the world’s largest meat processing company, announced the appointment of Jason Weller as its first global chief sustainability officer.
He will join the executive leadership team and oversee environmental, social, governance, and sustainability strategies for JBS Global, including further developing the roadmap for the company’s net zero 2040 commitment.
He joins JBS from Truterra, where he helped establish one of the largest agricultural carbon credit programs in the United States as president of the sustainability business at Land O’Lakes.
Before his time at Land O’Lakes, Weller served as chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s natural resources conservation service and also worked at the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, the U.S. House Budget Committee, and in the White House Office of Management and Budget.
The hiring of Weller follows the appointment of Maurício Bauer as corporate sustainability officer in May.
