Columbia Climate School has named Daniel Zarrilli as the university’s first chief climate & sustainability officer.

Zarrilli served previously as special adviser for climate and sustainability where he supported the creation of the Columbia Climate School and advised the university on institutional climate action, according to his school profile.

He joined Columbia University from the NYC Mayor’s Office, where he served until 2021 in the role of chief climate policy adviser.

Previously, he was senior vice president for asset management at the New York City Economic Development Corporation and spent five years with Bechtel Infrastructure Corporation.
