The U.S. arm of cryptocurrency exchange Binance has appointed Tammy Weinrib as chief compliance officer.

Weinrib will lead Binance.US’s compliance efforts, including the company’s know your customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) programs, and engage with regulators and law enforcement agencies across the United States.

She will report to Binance.US Chief Risk Officer Sidney Majalya.

Prior to joining Binance.US, Weinrib served as vice president of the financial crime compliance department at Societe Generale, where she designed both FinCEN and KYC regulatory frameworks and developed FCC and AML policies, procedures, and controls.

Prior to Societe Generale, Weinrib was the deputy chief compliance officer at Gemini, where she helped to lead the cryptocurrency exchange’s compliance and risk programs, including integrating regulatory requirements, KYC framework, controls framework, and transactional monitoring systems alignment to encompass legacy financial institution and digital currency regulatory requirements.

Earlier in her career, Weinrib held compliance roles at several financial institutions and consulting firms, including Crowe Horwath, Royal Bank of Scotland, Brown Brothers Harriman, Standard Chartered Bank, and Citigroup.
