Grant Thornton, an independent audit, tax and advisory firms has named three new practice leaders for the firm's New England and Northeast region.

Effective immediately, Peter Resnick has been named assistant managing partner of its New England practice, which includes the firm's offices in Boston; Westborough, Mass.; and Glastonbury, Conn.. Resnick will become the New England practice's managing partner, effective Aug. 1, 2014.

Resnick currently serves as a member of the New England leadership team and the Forensics and Litigation Services practice leader for the firm's Boston office, a role he will continue. As managing partner, he will succeed Joel Anik, who will serve in an advisory role for the New England practice through Dec. 31, 2014.

Resnick has experience in forensic accounting, financial consulting, financial statement audits, and accounting and fraud investigations. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he was the co-national leader of the Disputes and Investigation practice for Huron Consulting Group.

Northeast Regional Audit Leader

In other news, the firm named Sean Denham as leader of the Northeast region audit practice. Denham will continue in his role as the assistant office managing partner of the Metro New York Cluster, which includes the firm's offices in midtown and lower Manhattan, Long Island, Albany and Edison, N.J.

Denham previously served as the Northeast region National Professional practice director. With more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, he specializes in SEC regulatory issues and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board matters. He has extensive experience in IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, and other complex business transactions. Previously, Denham worked for Amper, Politziner & Mattia (now EisnerAmper) and Ernst & Young.

New England Audit Leader

Scott Trenholm has been named as leader of the New England audit practice, effective immediately. Trenholm, who has more than 30 years of experience in auditing and financial consulting, is an audit services partner and partner-in-charge of the firm's Connecticut office.

His financial consulting experience is focused on resolving financial reporting issues, internal control risk assessments and strategic planning. He has extensive experience working with publicly traded manufacturing companies and has also audited not-for-profit organizations, including social service agencies, and health care and insurance organizations. Trenholm joined Grant Thornton following the firm's acquisition of CCR in 2011.
